Raul and Felix Rodriguez developed the majority of the maneuvers and laid the framework of aerobatic paragliding.
Of course they were the ultimate winners, they took the world champions title in 2006. Young pilots Pál Takáts
and Gábor Kézi became pupils of these founding fathers, and following in their footsteps rapidly developed their
acrobatic flying skills. But as the two young protagonists threatened to take the throne of the masters themselves
the relationship turned turbulent.
In this film section extreme sport hero Mathias Roten talks about the history of acro paragliding:

“When I started doing aerobatics there were almost no maneuvers. You take a lot of time to get new maneuvers,
to think about new maneuvers, to try new maneuvers. Also the wings, we had to find out what size is good,
we went smaller and smaller of the wings. We tried to do wings especially for aerobatics. But then young guys come,
like Pal and Gabor and others, they see that there are the maneuvers and all of them work, they can take a good wing,
which is there, they can practice and became good very quick. Before it took long time to set it all up.”

Mathias Roten passed away in March 2008 while test flying a new glider in the Lötschental, Switzerland. RIP!
